Its origins and what its made of such as the specific ingredients always varies depending on the continuity and examples of origins and ingredients include
For the mirage continuity, The mutagen was accidentally created by the Utroms while they were trying to create a transmat machine that will allow them to escape Earth and return to their homeworld after they crash-landed on earth. Disguised as the technology company T.C.R.I. in New York City in order to allow the funds acquired through their transactions to help them build the machine to return home and they tried to create the machine secretly, However, during its creation, the machine produced a waste product that turned into and acted as a mutagen.
For the 1987 continuity, it originates from krang and dimension x and The mutagen also has many color variations through the series. Such as purple, pink, and rainbow and green mutagen, which was the most common in the series and the mutagen can be made mixing nyotrinaline with Taxon-9 and a third ingredient was mentioned – Bindex3.
The 2003 continuity version of the origins of the mutagen is the same as the mirage continuity version.
For the 2012 continuity, The mutagen is cyan colored and is revealed to be a natural bio-product of massive, worm-like creatures from Dimension X known as Kraathatrogons. The Kraang milk them for mutagen and for them extracting the mutagen from these creatures is no different from humans milking a cow. It has been stated that the mutagen was not intentionally created as a mutagenic agent and It is also explained that mutagen works far differently and apparently has a different effect in Dimension X and the effects of the Mutagen outside Dimension X and on Earth are unpredictable and the reason mutagen is unstable and unpredictable in earth’s dimension is because the laws of physics and the nature of lifeforms are much different in dimension X then it is on earth, and so the new laws of physics in earth’s dimension alter its function, making This incarnation’s specific mutagenic effect, similar to other continuities which is The contact with mutagen causes a human victim to merge with the DNA of the last creature one came in contact with and causing animal victims to evolve into a humanoid state, and It was also shown that if anyone is exposed to Mutagen and hasn’t come in contact with anything animal or plant-related, they will end up turning into a mutant monster or blob (However, Leatherhead was mutated in The Kraang’s dimension and just turned into a more intelligent and larger alligator, alongside being able to breath the air of dimension x with no ill affects. This adds to the fact that the Ooze works differently on Earth than in The Kraang’s dimension) and Mutagen is shown to not mutate anyone who has Kraang DNA in them which is the case with the 2012 continuities April O’Neil. Mutagen was discovered by Kraang prime and Kraang was once an Utrom scientist who discovered the Mutagen derived from the Kraathatrogon. Using this substance, he mutated to gigantic size and developed powerful psychic abilities. Through experimentation with the mutagen and stealing scientists to study it for they managed to perfect it on earth and make it work like how it does in dimension x and it reveals its true purpose; to “terraform” Earth into a new Dimension X. Plus the Kraang use Mutagen as a fuel to power Technodromes and possibly other forms of their tech.
For the 2014 film continuity, there are 2 types, the first one is green and was created by humans, more specifically Eric sacks and doctor O’Neil and though it mutates animals it was being made a cure to help humans from sicknesses and injuries, but when O’Neil learned of sacks true colors which was to use the mutagen to save New York City after releasing a virus turning it into a quarantine zone he destroyed the lab and all the mutagen that was left but the test subjects splinter and the four turtles survived. The second version is purple and derived from general Krang a do this version turns humans into anthropomorphic animals but if altered correctly could turn animal born mutants into humans.
For the rise continuity, mutagen is an alchemical concoction developed by Baron Draxum to create an army of mutants that would fight to overtake the Earth’s surface from humanity for the sake of the Yōkai population. It is most commonly found in the abdomens of Oozesquitoes, from which they suck up into their abdomen and can be pumped into a victim upon being stung. Baron Draxum’s mutagen is a neon green glowing liquid that functions by combining DNA with its user. While the rest of its ingredients are currently unknown, its main and final ingredient to creating it is Empyrean which is the term for a liquid mutagenic substance, where Empyrean originates from is A Krang spaceship crashed into the back of the Crying Titan, resulting in the ship’s fuel spilling and that pours from the right eye of the Crying Titan. Empyrean is a neon green liquid compound that is described as being ancient and exceedingly rare. It possesses great mystic power, and is the derivation of the mystic powers belonging to the Yōkai and it is highly valuable and tightly controlled and Its immense potency is required to execute difficult rituals, such as extracting a being’s life force and it is the mutagen’s activator which is also responsible for the mutagen’s ability to give mystic traits to its users.
For the IDW continuity, mutagen is made from a couple of sources and it originates as it comes from dimension X through Krang and is produced by Baxter stockman via the company Stockgen and it is comprised of 2 known ingredients that give it us unique properties and of one is removed then the mutagen acts differently and if one ingredient is used then that ingredients effects will be the only effects to happen and they’re the substance known commonly as ooze is a green liquid and Most notably, ooze is the core ingredient of mutagen, presumably being responsible for the rapid growth and occasional expanded intelligence of any animals who come into contact with it. It originates in the general region of the planet Utrominon. The related substances like the psychotropic compound are also refined from the ooze. The effects of raw ooze can be extremely varied, but typically it seems to have life-giving or healing properties. When ingested, it can cause a person’s body to change into its peak condition without effort, as seen with Takeshi Tatsuo. This includes the temporary reversal of the aging process. The ooze has nearly limitless healing properties. The other ingredient is the psychotropic compound, which is an experimental chemical refined by StockGen from the ooze. The compound, when injected, could enhance a laboratory specimen’s neurology to such a degree that they could attain human-like intelligence and social skills. For the 1990 film continuity mutagen was created completely by accident in T.G.R.I. (Techno Global Research Industries) to fit the plot. Thus, the company’s activity is identified as “Global” rather than “Cosmic”. best example of this is Xever Montes aka Fishface from the 2012 series who was a member of the foot clan and when he was exposed to mutagen and due to a snakehead fish being the last living thing he touched and also eating from a Chinatown sushi Stand it turned Xever into a large mutant humanoid red snakehead fish and though in this new form it did grant him enhanced strength, despite having thin stick-like arms with webs between his fingers, and giving him the ability to breath underwater and be capable of swimming for long periods of time and being a very fast swimmer and having strong jaws with sharp venomous teeth, it has also left him with 2 weaknesses, his mutation into a fish resulted in him losing his legs, those being replaced by a tail used for swimming, and he can no longer can’t breathe in the air anymore, rendering immobile and overall unable to live on land and his mutant form caused temporarily no longer participated in the missions of The Foot Clan and was confined to the pool of shredders headquarters of a time, but Both of these hindrances were circumvented when Shredder recruited Baxter Stockman and the first things he did was he successfully built an orange water-breathing rig that supplies him with water to wear so he can breath outside of water and from obtaining kraang technology and reverse-engineering it and combining it with human technology he also created a pair of of silver-colored, high-powered and strong mechanical legs with the kraangs nueral transmission interface technology to allow him to have fully functional robotic legs that he could use to walk amd be in land for combat and his knowledge of martial arts allow him to operate his mechanical legs as efficiently as his previous organic legs with the added benefit of his kicks also becoming stronger, with them having devastating kicks and with his Mechanical Legs, he is a very fast fighter for he can perform some very quick attacks that can catch other a by surprise and swim even faster and he can use the robotic legs with quite lethal skill and he can do long periods of swimming or running while fighting very well and he is much stronger and able to fight better, but mostly his strength is in his robotic legs, Also, his legs were seen to have these rocket skates that were added on.
Plus Non-animal mutant forms can also result from mutation as the Application to a human holding or having been last in contact with a plant will cause the two lifeforms to fuse into a single entity

Snakeweed from the 2012 series for he was a human who surrounded by a bunch of and all kinds of plants and weeds when a canister of mutagen hit him and splattered him with mutagen and turned him into a giant mutant plant/weed monster with a great regenerative healing factors and with some plant based powers such as having venus flytrap mouth claws for hands and his arms being long vines alongside having multiple other plant like vines on his body with things on them and instantly grow back when cut off and he is able to launch beads of tracking pheromones at prey to find them later and to feed he takes people and put a turn in to plant pods made by him to turn them into fertilizer.
Harold from the rise of the TMNT series who was a human holding a corpse flower and mutated into a human-born mutant corpse flower human hybrid from that very corpse flower and it cause me him to have some Chlorokinetic powers such as controlling and growing plant matter, mostly manifested as large thorny vines and can even spew odorous slime at people.
However, If a human has not recently come into contact with any other living being before being affected by Mutagen, it causes one to mutate into an undefined blob as the mutagen will cause their bodies to be molecularly broken down, turning them into a mutant blob monster made of acidic goo, with only their internal organs still remaining intact.

the only and prime example of this is pulverizer aka Timothy who idolized the turtles and wanted to be a hero like them and when he infiltrated the foot clan and wanting desperately to be hero and prove himself to the turtles was he volunteered to be to test subject for the foot clan’s mutagen experiment, foolishly believing that he will become a Mutant superhero just like the Turtles despite the warnings that the mutagen is dangerously unpredictable and there was no telling what it could do to him but he didn’t listen and wanting to be a mutant to help take down shredder and he pulled the latch on a large mutagen tank and had all of the Mutagen pour out of the tank and onto himself and he got his wish and finally ends up mutating himself and becomes mutant, but he painfully transforms into a gigantic transparent acidic slime blob monster with a hideous mess of his vital human organs floating around inside the mass and was now unable to speak and was barely sentient and as a result, he loses most of his humanity and becomes savage as a result and the turtles contained him in the now empty mutagen tank and Donnie kept him in his own for a long time but after when he drank some mutagen and mutated again he grew stronger and was able to create arms and legs made of his acid slime from his body coming out of the tank now acting as his body and becoming that continuity’s version of mutagen man. His mutation is very unique among others for Once mutated, he did not become a traditional animal-hybrid mutant, because he did not touch any animals without his gloves on and around the time he was exposed to the mutagen. Donatello and Fishface did touch him prior to the mutation, but only on clothed parts of his body. It is unknown if any other human would turn into the same thing if they came in contact with the mutagen without having prior contact with an animal, plant or fungus. It is possible that the mutagen did interact with a certain form of life: The microbes commonly found on and inside the human body. His mutant form can be compared to a single celled organism, with vital components suspended within a membrane. Another possibility, the last scene of him as a human focuses on his then exposed hand landing in a puddle of mutagen on the floor, so it’s possible his human DNA merged with the mutagen. It should also be noted that after pouring ooze on himself, Timothy was constantly trying to grab ahold of something. Since the mutagen had nothing to work with, it likely compelled him to find an animal to touch before it was too late.
But for some continuities, The results of mutagen mutating humans do not appear to be in any way related to what animal the subject most recently came in contact with

a major example of this effect is from the crossovers Batman vs. TMNT movie and the Batman TMNT comic for when it mutated many of Batman’s rogues into mutant animals it didn’t turn them in to the last animal they came into contract with but it still wasn’t random and they did turn into animals that best fitted and represented each of their nature and personalities and powers and another example includes the number between several hundred and three thousand mutagen bomb victims from the IDW comics though for them it seemed both mutating the last animal they came into contact with and mutating into a random animal, and for the 2014 film series in TMNT out of the shadows a purple variation of the mutagen which turned bebop and rocksteady into a mutant warthog and rhinoceroses respectively it wasn’t random as Baxter Stockman speculated that the purple mutagen works by reverting the subjects back to the DNA of their animal ancestors. Most likely it draws the subject back to a point when all life on Earth shared a genetic pattern and then force-‘evolves’ them into a new form based on some animal they share traits with).

The mutagen even has effects on Plants and fungi and turns them into mutants as well (examples include the Mutant dandelions from TMNT the secret of the ooze for when some mutagen canisters are exposed to the environment it was in it caused the plant life there to mutate and such resulted in some of them growing abnormally large such as with the dandelions. Another example is Fungus humungous from the 2012 series which was created when a canister of mutagen fell into the sewer and mutated a colony of fungus and it resulted in Fungus humungous a giant mutant mushroom and fungus that produces spores that causes people to hallucinate and experience their worst fears and to infect other mushrooms bringing them to life to spread itself and it also spawns the mushroom men which are tiny mutant mushroom minions and also can use its spores to affect people and to infect other mushrooms bringing them to life. Another example is The creep from the 2012 series which was created when mutagen soaked into the shores of a bog and creates the creep which was comprised of earthen matter from a swamp like mud, soil, goop and plants found in a swamp like grass, vines and moss making it also a kind of bog/swamp monster and although it didn’t speak and had limited intelligence it was very strong and durable and resilient to pain and had a powerful regenerative healing factor and even able to reattach severed limbs and it is capable of generating vines to ensnare and capture people and it has the ability to transform other beings into feral, plantlike creatures, and syphon off the mutagen out of mutants as nourishment feeding of them like mutagenic fertilizer and later on when it creates a clone of another plant mutant Snakeweed from one of his severed plant claws with the clone being known as the son of snakeweed and when both were destroyed it created a brand new plant mutant through the fusion called creepweed).

Sometimes when mutating a lifeform, it can have Growth effects with the mutagen in that case acting as a growth serum and it has been seen in animals for when that happens instead of the animal becoming a sentient anthropomorphic version of itself, instead turns to animal into a still non-sentient yet large monstrous beast version of that said animal (examples included the Parasitica wasp from the 2012 series which was a species of parasitic wasp which was experimented on the kraang and unlike most mutants, when it mutated, it didn’t become anthropomorphic and merely became an enlarged version of itself, making it an exception to average the consistency of how mutagen mutates animals and when the turtles encounter the 6-foot giant wasp it retains all of its abilities and typical behavior even after being enhanced by mutagen and after it’s was killed and Donnie becomes intrigued by the wasp’s mutation and is the first to state and note in amazement that the mutagens effects with mutations usually result in mutants being anthropomorphic and how never before have they’ve seen mutagen create a perfect and simple giant of a mutant like the wasp before and this is the first time that they have seen it for instead of becoming anthropomorphic, it merely increased in size instead of becoming a hypothetical and what was to be expected, a six-foot wasp-like monster that walks on two legs, speaks English, and uses weapons like the four of them. Plus when the eggs it laid hatched, the triplet wasps that come out of the egg are already full size adult wasps instead of hatching as larva and This could be a process of accelerated growth created by the mutagen. Another examples includes the Giant mutant rats from the 2012 series and they started off as several dozen average rats until the Rat King turned them into giants by using a special mutagenic growth formula that he created from the mutagen and Another example includes the slithery, a mutant moray eel from the IDW comics for it grew into a giant and nonanthropomorphic and didn’t become sentient).

It is also shown that mutagen can fuse life forms and even other mutants into entirely new mutants, The effects of fusion are similar to the regular exposure but The main difference is that, as the name implies, fusion merges two or more living creatures or mutants instead of just mutating one based on others DNA (examples include the Mutant bull from the 1987 series for originally it was 2 bulls who drank unstable and impure mutagen in close proximity and it mutated and fused them into one giant bull with multiple horns and spikes growing out of its body and later the bull splits into two copies of itself and then when they crash into each other and fuse back into one, bigger-than-ever mutant bull and through using an atom smasher it cures it but strangely it reduces the mutant bull into four ordinary bulls (two copies each of the original two bulls). Another example is Creepweed which is a fusion the plant mutants the creep and son of snakeweed and it was created when the creep, which was a mutant comprised of earth matter from a swamp such as mud, soil, goop and plants found in a swamp like grass, vines and moss making it also a kind of bog/swamp monster, reformed and became smarter from absorbing some experimental brain serum from a brain worm and when it found a severed and souvenired claw hand from snakeweed who was a human turned into a plant/weed monster with a great regenerative healing factor and with some plant based powers it took it and it I fused some of its mutagen into the claw and a little later the claw transformed into a non-speaking clone of snakeweed dubbed the son of snakeweed and it was under the creeps control and both were destroyed by the turkeys in a fiery explosion but their biomass pieces and plant matter were all splattered together and both their regenerative healing factor and the mutagen in them caused them to fuse into a mutant called creepweed which was a gigantic brownish and greenish mutant plant monstrosity with similarities to both the creep and snakeweed with multiple spike tentacles that kept on growing and spreading everywhere and also secreted sleeping spores putting people to sleep and putting them in pods and kept regenerating from every attack but it was finally stopped when Donnie used a spray gun containing what was described as a retro mutagen based weed killer and sprayed into its mouth and it caused the whole thing to explode and its spreading vines to wither and die and its remains de-mutated into a mess of dead plant matter and donnie then stored what remained of Creepweed in a metal box so that it can’t get out and also to keep as a souvenir. This gives both a more eerie tone in the situation as the fused animals will be hurt, physically from changing their anatomy and Superduperfly making them move and attack the turtles and NYC against their will, also psychologically from the trauma of becoming a giant monster and not being in control of themselves. He used this form and its new size and strength and durability to attack the city at first the turtles tried to stop him by shooting am anti-ooze dart at his let thinking it will demutate him instantly but it just causes only one horse of the many comprising his leg to be cured and separate from him while the rest of his body still remained intact but the turtles managed to stop him as an abomination when they used some of the Anti-Ooze and dropped it into his blowhole which had a heavy concentration of ooze and it were through his entire bloodstream and it not only regressed him from his mega mutant form back into a normal housefly but demutated and separated every animal that he was composed of back to their normal forms. And other examples include Bopsteady and Dirt Chuck from the IDW comics who are a fusion of bebop and rocksteady and dirt bag and groundchuck respectively).

Sometimes, If ingested, the mutagen causes one to mutate into the last thing ingested before the mutagen thereby turning into mutant foodstuffs. (Examples include Ice Cream Kitty who at first started off as a nameless stray cat who was brought to the turtle lair by April and mikey took care of her but she licked some a mixture of mutagen and neapolitan ice cream due that was made from money earlier spilling some neapolitan ice cream Into a jar of experimented mutagen from one of Donnie’s attempts to create retro-mutagen and the ingestion of the ice team mixed with the attempted made antidote which also contained an unspecified amount of mutagen well caused the cats entire body to turn into to slowly transform into ice cream and it a body broke down into a puddle and Mikey looked down in terror and regret on what he did but then the puddle reformed into a mutant amorphous cat ice cream hybrid as both its former body structure and the ice cream have somehow been able to amalgamate and mikey took an instant liking to her now for she was now a combination of 2 things he loves cats and ice cream and he names her ice cream kitty and she has been a loyal pet to the turtles since then. In certain conditions mutagen can even have some form of Effects on technology even turning tech and machinery in to bot a mutant and what could be seven as a techno-organic lifeform (the mainest examples of this is Speed Demon which is a mutant car from the 2012 series and it started out an average muscle car driven by a car jockey but when the car drove over a jar of mutagen that was lost and shattered on the road, For unknown reasons, it was able to was able to mutate the car and it turned from a non-sentient lifeless vehicle into a sentient being for Not only did it become a literal muscle car, in the sense that it gained an entire muscular system throughout it’s mechanical body that enabled it to move on its own, but it also became sentient, gained a will of its own, and even a demented personality (a possible explanation for this is likely because the mutagen also was exposed to trace amounts of the human drivers DNA all over the car when it touched the vehicle and it caused the human driver’s DNA to merge with the vehicle and caused it to gain consciousness and come to life turning it into a mutant sentient muscle car entity and not only that but Speed Demon and it is incredible fast and durable with lots of stamina and it eats people and use a them as it’s driver by possessing them and mutating them which it did with its original driver and it also spills some Mutagen-infused gasoline on the road, which later causes the mutation of Dr. Cluckingsworth M.D., who became a chicken with a vast intellect and is able to lay Radioactive Mutagen Eggs. Donnie and Casey use the eggs as fuel for the Turtle Racer to battle speed demon but when The original driver was freed and reverted back to normal from being liberated it consumed Donnie for a new one and since he was a mutant it caused speed demon to gain more mutant power and became even stronger and far faster but casey was able to free him reverted back to normal as well and speed demon was run of the road off a cliff and blew up. Another example is the Super M.O.U.S.E.R.S which debuted in the 2012 continuity game TMNT: Danger of the Ooze. The Super M.O.U.S.E.R.S were previously Baxter Stockman’s/Baxter Fly’s M.O.U.S.E.R.S, who came in contact with the Super Mutagen. They were created when After Baxter Fly was defeated by the Ninja Turtles, Baxter Fly took the Super Mutagen away with him. Without realizing it, some of the substance fell on his M.O.U.S.E.R.S. Then the M.O.U.S.E.R.S mutated into Super M.O.U.S.E.R.S.).

When it comes to a mutant’s exposure to a secondary dose of mutagen, a mutant being exposed to more mutagen results in that mutant mutating or in another sense being mutating again and having a double mutation which occurs when a mutant is exposed to mutagen for a second time, resulting in the mutant becoming what is sometimes referred to as a super mutant and it happens when a mutant is exposed to more mutagen and it triggers a secondary mutation in their already mutated DNA and the secondary mutations even can accelerate the original mutation, causing the life form that is already a mutant becomes a larger and more powerful mutant or to being hybridized with the last thing they have touched and become larger and more unstable Humanoid Hybrids or both happening, with the potential for that mutation to become permanent, and double mutations, though at times stable, has the possibility of being cured as well (examples of secondary mutations include Raph in the mirage comics in issue 13 volume 4 where Raphael was attacked and bitten by a gang that turned out to be a group of vampires; although Raphael did not turn into a vampire the vampirism mixes with the mutagen in his system and causes a double mutation to occur, causing him to transform into an initially uncontrollable dinosaur-like beast. After Raphael manages to control his monstrous side, he succeeds, together with Casey, in capturing those vampires who were responsible for his monstrous transformation and eventually the effects are reversed and he turns back to normal. As a result Bradford’s wounded arm did not grow properly when he transformed into Dogpound, his mutant form was large and heavy and slow and was covered in bone spike protrusions which included large, jagged spikes running up the center of his back and spine and his left arm was very large, long and muscular with spikes protruding from the left shoulder, forearm and his knuckles and he used this arm for attacks and blows and punches but his right arm which was the one that was bitten was smaller, shorter and not so muscular and it had no spike protrusions and the right hand was completely encrusted in the same material as his spikes were and he used this arm for blocking melee weapon attacks and grabbing things and as dogpound he had enhanced strength and had a dogs acute senses of hearing and smell and night vision and the bone spikes on his body grew back back whenever the broke off but his size and weight and non-symmetrical arms made him clumsy and unbalanced at times but when he accidentally fell into a vat of mutagen, he is further mutated into a new form dubbed as Rahzar and Bradford’s new form proved to be much more stable than his original, his second mutation gave him the appearance of a mutant wolf covered in bone spikes, basically making him sort of like a skeleton-like werewolf, his body physique was now long, lengthy and very bony and his bony spikes are more developed and have a rather grisly look and his fur complexion being darker with a more of a silver, grey or brown tone and had a longer snout that was made of bone with larger teeth and longer fangs and his hands were made entirety of bone and had sharper claws and he no longer had a tail, and most of all his anatomy and especially his limbs were once again symmetrical and as rahzar he still had the same enhanced strength and heighten senses of smell and hearing and night vision he had as dog pound but now with his body and arms now symmetrical he was not clumsy and his ten claws are also detachable and can be flung at enemies whenever he pleases and can quickly grow back and he he was also faster and more agile and more powerful than he was as dogpound and he said it himself and even said he felt the mutagen coursing through him and his new form made him feel like a ninja again but it not only effectively restored his status as a ninja, but made him exponentially more of a ninja than he already was but his new form also caused him to become considerably more ferocious, much more savage, and was a deadly bloodthirsty beast who is a force to be reckoned with and even having the desire to actually eat people and mutants, but he retains his original personality. In Raphael: Mutant Apocalypse, which is set in an alternate timeline in the 2012 continuity, when a mutagen bomb went off and turned all life on earth into mutants and turned the world into a wasteland and to protect his brothers from the explosion, he pushed his brothers to relative safety but he took the brunt of the fallout himself and He was double-mutated into a gigantic, grotesque and hulking version of himself and His mutation enhanced his speed and strength, making him a fearsome foe but and lost his memory of his former life as Leonardo and was Now only driven by anger and lust for power Leonardo renamed himself Maximus Kong, and Eventually, he became a most ruthless and evil warlord bent on conquering and ruling the entire apocalyptic wasteland world, but Maximus’ aggression and destructive nature is merely a product of Leonardo’s memory loss and double mutation. When he reunited and fought his 3 brothers after many years Slowly, Leonardo began to regain his memories, plus When Leo mutated into Maximus Kong, his eyes were glowing green. After regaining his memories, Leo’s eyes returned to normal. This symbolizes the mutagen clouding his vision and, subsequently, the memories of his past. Once recovered from his amnesia from being remixed who he is by his brothers and he was happy to be with his brothers again and he regretted his actions once he regained his humanity Leonardo joined his brothers and the last of the Red Stripe Army and lived at the Oasis in happiness. Another example is kraang primordius who is the alternate form of Kraang prime for in the 2012 continuity, for Kraang prime who back before his mutation was just kraang was once a respected Utrom scientist who has discovered the “milk” of the Kraathatrogon worm (later known as simply mutagen which is derived from the Kraathatrogon in the 2012 continuity). Using this substance he tested it on himself and he mutated to gigantic size Utrom and developed powerful psychic abilities. Realizing the potential of the mutagen, Kraang went mad with power and Using his new psychic powers, he conquered and enslaved the majority of his race by to mind controlling his fellow Utroms, destroying their individuality and turning them into mindless mental clones of himself and He renamed himself Kraang Prime and called his faction ‘the Kraang’. He then proceeded to conduct a centuries-long campaign to conquer Dimension X, and later the greater universe as well by attempting to take over the multiverse by mutating dimensions to appear similar to Dimension X. He was killed by the triceratons when they blew up the technodrome and from that it liberated every utrom from the Kraang Hivemind and every kraang became their original utrom selves again and dimension X and the utrom race were free and at peace again. But in a sequel comic of the 2012 continuity called Kraang Among Us, it is revealed he survived as He explains that he is the former Kraang Prime, whose remains were mutated from having been exposed to mutagen again (likely leaked out from the Technodrome) at the bottom of the ocean as he was left to die and his cells fed on the creatures living in the river which allowed him to grow and become conscious again, and now in a reconstructed form, his body is a pink gelatinous form in a vaguely human-like shape which allows him to shapeshift, split into multiple entities such as Turing into 3 separate human forms dubbed Rubber-Leg Crew with great fighting skills and can spread and consume and absorb other living things into his mass to grow and his new desire is to consume all that breathes and absorb it into himself for how hunger has no end, he christens himself Kraang Primordius. Plus, Kraang Prime is the only mutant character who was mutated in the entire show to be of unearthly origins. And considering he was mutated in Dimension X, where it is stable, he is the only mutant to not be negatively influenced by it. Another example is splinter from the image comics continuity where During the fight between the Ninja Turtles and the gangster boss Dragonlord, Splinter was transformed into a mutant vampire bat by means of a mutagenic preparation by Dr. Wu in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles issue 5 (Image) and develops corresponding vampiric tendencies and spent the better part of the series vexing the Turtles off and on as his mind slowly went feral, until his secondary mutation was reverted as the Turtles are able to return their sensei back to his original form).

When it comes to an Unstable mutation it is a mutation that is caused by a mutagen source that has unstable properties and has affected a mutant and this leads to mutants mutating into more monstrous versions of themselves, temporarily giving them brute strength and unique abilities for a short amount of time but these mutations also cause the said mutants to become more uncontrollable and diminishes the mutant’s intelligence while in this state and even cause deformities and even pain at times and it can eventually prove fatal to the host. It can sometimes happen with unstable and experimented on and altered mutagen for When mutagen has been tampered with to the point of instability, it can be incompatible with the infected host’s physiology, which leads to an uncontrollable mutation and it can also happen with a mutant undergoing a secondary mutation or if due to the mutagen that the mutant has within them and originally mutated from has become unstable from the mutagen being affected or contaminated by some external source (Examples of this include in the 1987 series when the Ninja Turtles undergo secondary mutations due to the mutagen that they originally mutated from became unstable. This leads to them mutating into more monstrous and reptilian versions of themselves, temporarily giving them brute strength and unique abilities for a short amount of time and It was only later these mutations were causing the turtles to become more uncontrollable when these unstable mutations were diminishing the Turtle’s intelligence while in this state and This led to the Turtles using the Vortex Crystal to stabilize their mutations and prevent them from mutating into these forms again and another example include the Mutant bull from the 1987 series for originally it was 2 bulls who drank unstable and impure mutagen in close proximity and it mutated and fused them into one giant bull with multiple horns and spikes growing out of its body and later the bull splits into two copies of itself and then when they crash into each other and fuse back into one, bigger-than-ever mutant bull and through using an atom smasher it cures it but strangely it reduces the mutant bull into four ordinary bulls (two copies each of the original two bulls) and also in The 1990 film series in TMNT the secret of the Ooze when it came to the creation of Rahzar and Tokka from mutating an a wolf and and snapping turtle shredder kidnapped Proffesor Jordon Perry forced him to create a new batch of ooze so he could create new mutant warriors to use against the Turtles. This mutagen was used to mutate the wolf cub and the baby snapping turtle into Rahzar and Tokka, respectively and caused them to grow very large and have incredible amounts of strength and durability but Professor Perry modified and contaminated the new ooze and thus prevented intellectual development in the subjects, resulting in the two mutants behaving like infants. From that Razhar and Tokka despite having low intelligence and speed, they made up for it with total obedience and their incredible physical strength and durability which made them even more than a match for the 4 turtles but despite that, without high intelligence they weren’t as dangerous as they were capable of being. This not yet completed super mutagen not only caused Shredder to mutate into a huge, deformed, version of himself, but the lack of stability caused his body to deteriorate occasionally such as it caused his left arm to become deformed and he had to take more mutagen to remain stable until the dosage could be perfected, and another example is Seymour gutz aka Mutagen Man from the 1987 series for when he fell into a vat of mutagen, The mutagen that Seymour had fallen into was so unstable that it dismembered Seymour’s body into his somehow still living brain, his eyes, his mouth and his spinal cord. In order to survive, Seymour was placed in a special teal and purple containment suit that he was forced to wear, whose torso contained a tank of mutagen that preserved the remains of his body. He also needs a supply of unstable mutagen to hold his dismembered body together. Without it to keep himself stabilized, he falls apart. It is shown when mutagen is experimented on, altered or have other things mixed into it, it can change, augment and and modify the mutagen effects, making a mutants mutations perfect, stable, less random, more controlled and create a mutation with desired results and it even works well when the mutagen is being used to create mutants through genetic engineering and cloning and so the mutagen can be used for a specific purpose (examples of mutants made from altered mutagen and through genetic engineering and alteration and cloning include The mutant shredder clones which are a group of 3 mutants who are made from Oroku Saki’s DNA and they are hideously mutated clones of him who armor similar to his but each of them has a different physiology which gives them unique edges and for their is Mini shredder who is incredibly short and the smallest of them and only have one long wrist blade on each hand, Claw shredder who is average human sized but both his arms have large monstrous and spiked crustacean claws for hands and Shiva shredder who is tall and hulking and is the largest of the 3 and had four arms and has lots of strength and durability and has one tekkō-kagi blade on each arm, though thier origins vary they are always mutant clones of the shredder and for example in the mirage continuity they were created from using a blend of ancient magic and modern science, the Foot Clan’s scientists have trained a species of colony worms to feed on the remains of a person and form together to become a replica of said person. Shredder goes on to indicate that the Shredder Elite were experimental subjects and on the fourth instance, they were fed Oroku Saki’s charred remains. Some other examples are the Underground monsters from the 2003 series for they were 7 humans captured by their footclan and subjected them to horrendous experiments, by Shredder’s Foot Geneticist, and they were all transformed into monsters that were all capable of surviving deep underground. The Foot used these creatures to search the underground beneath New York for the Utroms, discovering an Y’Lyntian settlement in the process. Once it was determined that the Utroms were not hiding underground, the Diggers were ordered to be terminated. However, some of the Diggers retained their humanity and rebelled against the Foot, who then abandoned their underground outpost. They were discovered by the turtles and they found the Y’Lyntian city while Pursued by the other monsters and each of the Diggers were soon transported into stasis chambers by the Entity, the city’s sole Y’Lyntian guardian, where the crystal moon that powered the crystals could restore them to human form. Though he claimed that he wanted the Diggers’ aid in repopulating the city, it is very likely that he actually intended them to be the slaves of a new Y’Lyntian empire. After the Turtles imprison the Entity, they find the Diggers have reverted to human form. Unfortunately, they soon discover that straying too far from the crystal moon causes them to revert into their monster forms, forcing them to stay in the city. As the Turtles promise to return, the Diggers began to exhaust themselves trying to find a permanent cure. After using up a lot of crystals, they tried using explosives to break a few chunks from the crystal moon. Unfortunately, they accidentally dislodged the crystal moon from the cavern roof, causing it to fall into the lava. Without its regenerative effects, the Diggers reverted to their monster forms, attacking anything that moved. When the Turtles returned with a cure, the Diggers attacked them. However Donatello discovered how to liquify the crystals to act as the cure and administered it to all of them and to do that they needed more crystals and managed to raise the crystal moon from the lava, the Diggers permanently became human again, enabling them to return to the surface. A big example is from the IDW continuity in which mutagen was used for multiple different purposes for originally mutagen was constructed by general krang to generate a super-soldier serum that would allow him to have near-invincible troops. As the mutagen was originally meant as a super-soldier serum, it has a very different effect on humans. In humans, the mutagen gives the subjects increased strength, muscle and overall inducing a state of peak physical condition, making them super soldiers, with examples including Arnold Jones and Agent Ravenwood, but the mutagen still has the ability to turn humans into mutant animal by mixing it with animal dna when exposed to a human thereby creating innately powerful supersoldiers possessing the fiercest traits of humans and animals. Another example from the IDW comics is Terrapin/Human Exo-Armor Synthesis which is a secret project and technology developed at StockGen, commissioned by General Krang and Baxter Stockman and The intention was to give humanoid soldiers unbreakable stone-like skin, which was based on the natural carapaces of turtles. Before the Turtles Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo mutated, it was themselves as laboratory animals, presumably for genetic material, who made possible the development of the experimental mutagenic technology. It is not explained why he has this power, but presumably it is related to his mutated rat DNA and it ended up becoming an enemy to the turtles. Another example from the 2012 series is the Psychic neural chemical which was invented by both Dr. Tyler Rockwell who later became Monkey brains and Dr. Victor Falco who later became The rat king for they in separate instances managed to modify the effects of mutagen and what those chemical did is the changed effects of it when injected into a person was instead of mutating their body it would mutate their brains and give them psychic abilities and when Dr. Victor Falco turned Dr. Tyler Rockwell into a mutant monkey and experimented on him, producing a specific version of the chemical that would not only mutate Dr. Rockwell but also give him psychic powers. Later Falco perfected the serum, for now the serum was created by Rockwell’s mutant brain which he extracted out of him and injected into himself giving him the ability to read minds and later While using rats to test his psychic serum, Falco suffered an accident in which he was splattered with the psychic neural chemical, mutagen and rat DNA which turned him into a mutant humanoid and changed his abilities to having a telepathic connection and control over rats while Rockwell was experimented on by the kraang which enhanced his psychic powers from just reading emotions to having both telepathy and telekinesis and also restoring his human mind in the process. Plus some other examples are from the 2012 series such as when in order to help Leo recover from his injuries, Donatello created a mutagen-based medicine for Leo. “Leo’s Elixir”, which he had been working on for the months he was in a coma, when he ingested it, did not mutate him, though he did say it tasted like was supposed to come out of him not to into him, but once it was out of his body and also talking a swig of it every once in a while, it caused him to vomit and left him very sick for a while, but the mutagenic components of the medicine in the vomit seeped into the soil of the shore of the bog which created the creep, a mutant comprised of earthen matter from a swamp like mud, soil, goop and plants found in a swamp like grass, vines and moss making it also a kind of bog/swamp monster, but likey from how the mutagen from the mutagen medicine was so chemically altered the creep didn’t have plant based abilities such as vine generation and a regenerative healing factor a long with great strength and durability but it also, it had the ability to transform other beings into feral, plantlike creatures, and syphon off the mutagen out of mutants via direct contact as nourishment, feeding of them like mutagenic fertilizer and the process can even demutate a mutant, it in the case with those it turned into plant monsters turn them in to a mass of plants and this is what happend to Raph but Donnie was able to save Raph by extracting all the mutagen out of the creep and back into Raph’s body using an I.V. vaccum and it even killed of the plant infection transformation that happend to Raph reverting him back to normal and this caused the creep to revert back into swamp goop until later on it reformed and later on when it was even able to create a clone of another plant mutant Snakeweed from one of his severed plant claws with the clone being known as the son of snakeweed by transferring some the mutagen from within it in to the claw, plus The Creep worshipped the mutagen and had an altar for Leo’s Elixir, as it’s his life-giving source. Another example is Mom-thing from the 2012 series for this mutant is actually a heavily mutated clone of Mrs. O’neil who herself was a mutant utrom human hybrid from generation of kraang experimentation on the O’Neil family blood line starting all the way back to April’s great grandfather and with April bring the perfect specimen from the experiment of making a perfect mutant utrom hybrid and this monsters origins were that when april and her father kirby escaped the kraang from their farm house when she was a little girl the kraang captured her mother and her fate was left ambiguous (she was most likely killed) a do The Kraang used her unique dna to create an artificial creation in an early infiltration experiment which was a mutant clone that utilized a combination of Mrs. O’Neil’s unique DNA and regular Utrom DNA alongside many alterations done it it to give it unique powers all meant for infiltration and its was created solely for the purpose of a servant to the Kraang and to capture April for them so that she can please her masters boy helping them get April for their plans and the idea was for it was to pose as aprils mom pretend to be her and gain trust and steal april for the kraang and it would have done so perfectly for it also had all of Mrs. O’Neil’s memories grafted into its own mind and it’s powers were biological shapeshifting and it had two forms which was the form that let it past of as Mrs. O’neil and it’s second and true form which was a Giant fleshy, grotesque, Kraang, spider-like monster featuring pink and blue skin around her body with Her face being a gooey pink Kraang-like face with big beady magenta eyes and Under the face, she has baby blue skin and large pointy ears, and her hair pointed back with a split crack where her face can split into 2 parts and The creature has six massive long legs almost like an insect’s. Featured on her back is six large sticking-up tubes that connect to her body with a crater where organs can come out and drag victims in and turn them into zombie like body parts and it was able to shapeshift into and living thing is consumed or absorbed into itself to imitate them and even when imitating them and in its human form it could form tentacles from its limbs and back to attack and absorb victims and it was incredible strong and due able with a regenerative healing factor and could even burrow underground. However, After the experiment was complete and when it was brought to life, The Kraang realized afterwards that this clone was very dangerous. What they didn’t realized was that the creature had the ability to shape-shift into any living organism that it consumed. Since this creature that the Kraang created proved to be for too dangerous and even extremely dangerous to them, they scrapped the experiment but since they didn’t have the weapons to terminate it on where they were which was under the O’Neil farmhouse in the old Kraang scout ship and also having no way of transporting it somewhere else to terminate it pack them, the kraang out it in a deep freeze stasis in Tue ships lab wanting it to remain in there forever. It remained the it for years and long since the kraang left the farm but when the turtles and April and Casey discovered it all and released her she was able to pass off as Aprils long lost mom but eventually she revealed her true identity and intentions to bring April to the kraang and despite them fighting her she overpowered them and she managed to consume all 4 turtles and casey and then tried to do the same to April but April used a psychic energy blast to make the Mom-Thing explode into a pile of pink flesh and green goo, killing it and fortunately, as a result of her destruction, all those consumed by the Mom-Thing were shown to be released alive and well, yet covered in slime and Donnie was able to get data from the kraang computer to explain everything. Another example from the 2012 series is The brainworms, which are genetically modified little mutant worm creatures created by Stockman-fly, these parasites were originally average earth worms who were mutated from a mixture of mutagen and a mind control serum and possibly shredders dna and mutagen was used in the of creation from earthworms for the chemical alone didn’t make them into being for According to Donatello (when he was trying to find out what this chemical was), the mind control serum is not Mutagen based, they were created to aid the shredder to obtain Allie’s via a mind control serum, they were created in a personal project of shredders to brainwash Karai back into his loyalty again and the mind control serum was comprised of many different chemicals all coming from abandoned Kraang laboratories, Auman Chemicals, shipments, and from the Italian Mafia, with one of the main chemical components being a purple substance known as Reagent-X, and Once all these components were put together by Baxter Fly, the mind control serum was finally completed. They were then forced into labour on Dimension X asteroids for power cell crystals. The kraang then planned to use a mutagen missile containing the perfected mutagen and when launched and blowing up it would mutate all of earth into a copy of dimension x but fortunately the turtles stopped the rocket and later Everyone who was mutated was eventually turned back to normal and sent back to New York due to Retro-Mutagen being fired by a taken over technodrome. This shows distinct differences between a “pure” mutation and a typical one – particularly with the humans, who in the finale turned into Kraang-like monsters rather than the usual, animal-based mutants. This was because the Kraang perfected the Mutagen. Another example is the Super shredder from the 2012 series for he was an average human and when he mutated his mutation was him becoming a bio-engineered monster of no known species and this was because he was mutated by something called Super mutagen which is a special variant of mutagen which is created from regular mutagen by stockman-fly and and upgraded version of mutagen and it was used when shredder was in critical condition and to help with his recovery stockman-fly concocted the super mutagen and was administered I to his bloodstream by a mutagen drip and stockman fly slowly altered it but since it was not ready it was unstable and so took some time for shredder to recover and this was done because regular mutagen is unstable and could warp his mind but with the new mutagen serum the outcome can be controlled but it would take time and result a later showed with his eyes and veins glowing green and metal spikes protruding from his arms but shredder grew to impatient and told stockman-fly to give him all the super mutagen all at once despite the warning that the new mutagen formula was still unstable and the effects could be disasterous and he could mutate in to a monster yet once it happend shredder had a painful mutation and for what the super mutagen did was his body underwent hideous disfigurement into a huge deformed version of himself and upon the his violent mutation, he grabs the Kuro Kabuto and puts it on, causing the legendary helmet to become disfigured and fuse with his head, essentially becoming a part of him and veins of mutagen were coursing through the kabuto like the rest of Shredder’s body with its own blades becoming longer and spikier and its frontal mask resembling a human skull’s face with ten Mutagen cores on the forehead, two thin nostrils, and his teeth and gums are visible under the Kuro Kabuto on the sides and His eyes now glowed green and are bloodshot and his teeth are always visible on the sides and His body became more muscular with metal blades sticking out of almost every part of his body with a few silver, metallic spikes that pop out from his chest that look like ribs and on each of his shoulders, he has three spikes emerging from the skin, as well has three spikes on each of his arms and His fingers are covered in metal that have sharp fingertips (like claws) and sharp knuckles and Around the knuckles for each of his hands, he has two retractable, steel claws that are longer than his fingers and On his back, he has three spikes on his spine that are unequal in length as well as clawed feet and has visible veins of mutagen connecting to the center of his chest in which he has a big exposed beating heart with a purplish-blue hue that is surrounded with the Mutagen veins and His skin has a few areas with a peach-orange hue, purple, and reddish-pink hue with a few swollen areas and Mutagen veins (around the chest, arms, and spikes). This mutated form granted him massively increased Superhuman strength able to lift anybody and lift giant heavy things and break through things and well and overpowering opponents in battle la and combat and he can also create a powerful shockwaves with a clap, Nigh-invulnerability thanks to the Mutated steel/bone armor and is much more durable due to the metal fused to his skin and Shredder’s body became invulnerable to virtually all forms of physical damage, requiring extreme effort to hurt hurt him and his armor was shown to take little to no damage and he He is also invulnerable to extreme heat sources such as fire and super-heated plasma blasts and he has Enhanced Endurance for With his mutation he is much more durable than ever for not Only can recover in combat but also, he’s much more tougher and he doesn’t get affected when someone kicks him in the face (thanks to the Kuro Kabuto that fused to his skin). Even though Super Shredder is very bulky and heavy, he is still enhanced in his agility as he can perform a few quick movements in combat. His most noteworthy powers are his serrated Steel/bone blades protruding out of his body and Similarly to his bagh nakh Steel Claws when he was a human he has two steel blades that come out through his hands in the form of steel claws and can create out of his arms, longer than his mechanical ones and His claws are retractable and He can also rapidly fire them as projectiles at opponents and they regrow them just as fast. Shredder’s sense of smell and hearing have also greatly improved. He still retained his original ninja skills as well as calculating new mutant abilities which he uses in combat, making him a force more deadly than any other the turtles have dealt with prior. Plus it still warped his mind as he became even more insane then he already was. Despite these enhancements, this new form’s initial main weakness was that his mutagen engorged heart is left exposed, and if struck he will expel mutagen from with-in causing his form to become unstable and since the super mutagen in him was not yet perfected and it not only caused Shredder to mutate into a huge, deformed, version of himself, but the lack of stability caused his body to deteriorate occasionally such as it caused his left arm to become deformed and he had to take more mutagen to remain stable until the dosage could be perfected and this acted as a mutagen based regeneration for Just by injecting more of the Super Mutagen into his body, he can enhance much more in strength and and can fix his deformed arms and regenerate any of his blades through this process. However later stockman-fly perfected the super mutagen and injected it into super shredder and the enhancement stabilized his unstable mutant form to the point where he felt natural with the new form he gained and it increased his strength and power and made him nigh-invincible and It also warped his mind further and it removed all of his emotional ties and made him immune to feelings thus became much more ruthless and heartless and was stripped of any humanity he had left and was bloodlustful and he believes his transformation made him perfection itself and was unstoppable and The flaw with his heart being his weakness was later eliminated, as the exposed heart became so durable that not even a blade could pierce it, and instead shatters when it makes contact. Plus due to the supers mutagen being a so heavily altered version of mutagen, normal retro mutagen can reverse its effects and therefore made him a special mutant who cannot be cured in any way and thus was immune to retro mutagen. This shows When the Super Mutagen comes in contact with someone or something, it can cause the subject to go through a genetic alteration to turn into a mutant. The Super Mutagen can cause a mutation if it comes in contact with a subject by being consumed, injected, or skin contact. A thing about the Super Mutagen that is different from the Mutagen is that it is supposed to make a mutant’s mutation stabilized and make the mutant feel natural with this new form that it gains. Another thing about the Super Mutagen is that it can make an organism regain its strength by enhancing it, as well as enhancing other things from the organism. Also, the mutant will have immunity to feelings and become much more ruthless and heartless. The Super Mutagen can even make the mutant immune to the Retro-Mutagen. But it is unknown if someone else who was exposed to super mutagen would have the same mutation results as shredders. Another example is in the Batman vs the TMNT movie white it is shown that when mutagem When mixed with Joker Venom, not only will it mutate a human or animal into a mutant, but it also drives its subjects insane as well as mutating them, turning the subject into a non sentient and feral anthropomorphic animal beast and this as seen with Batman when he was injected with the mutagen joker venom mixture and turned into an unhinged mutant bat until he was cured. Bloodsucker was a normal leech until Donatello, Leonardo, and Michelangelo decided to use it to get back at Raphael who had been disobeying Splinter and had stalled their training. Raphael was afraid of leeches, so the other Turtles decided to force Raphael to let the leech suck on his blood. Bloodsucker sucked some of the mutagen out of Raphael and he started to de-evolve back to a normal pet turtle. Bloodsucker started to evolve into a humanoid creature. Later Bloodsucker sucked the rest of Raphael’s mutagen. The other Turtles decided to capture Bloodsucker so they could get the mutagen back to Raphael. Finally, they found Bloodsucker and started fighting it. During the battle, Raphael (who looked like a normal pet turtle at this point) started biting Bloodsucker thus draining the stolen mutagen back. However, this substance proved to be highly mutagenic and was so aggressive that it mutated and transformed any living thing that came into contact with it, humans and animals alike for The alien DNA combined with the accelerant and modifications that were made, was interacting with whatever host creature it encounters. Mutating it, spreading like a virus, making it a viral variant of mutagen created through the blood of the S-Gray Alien clones, it cause both animals and humans alike to mutate into hideous monsters known as “S-Gray Mutants”. This triggered a mutant outbreak that spread all over the city which had serious consequences for the safety of the city. Many mutations both human and animal alike were mutated from both just the outbreak mutagen but from being attacked but the outbreak mutants for if they were bitten or even scratched by them and survive the outbreak mutagen would be in the it system and it would mutate them and not on it that but if the outbreak mutants got cut or injured or wounded their blood and genetic material containing the outbreak mutagen would leak out if them and would infect another lifeform coming into contact with it and not only that so me of the out real mutants can horrifically mutate and fuse themselves with a other lifeform becoming an entirely new mutant monstrosity that and there were many kinds of mutations that resulted from the outbreak and many humans and animals were either hybridized or turned into hulking and grotesque freaks of nature and for some of them the outbreak mutagen even increased their intelligence but for some they were reduced to feral beasts Many mutations all over New York included mutant humans, cockroaches, birds, lizards, bugs, frogs, lobsters, crabs, rats, ticks, pigeons, toads, arachnids and more with many aquatic life becoming sea monster like monstrosities and many outbreak mutations on land in both the streets and sewers be grotesque creatures with even some becoming hybridized or chimeric beasts. Another form of mutagen used to infect people is from the 2012 series where dr victor falco aka the rat king was developing a viral formula from mutagen to turn humans into mutant rats and from looking into hamato yoshis/splinters mind to see the origin of his mutation he started making it and had his giant mutant rats to kidnap many humans and bring them to him with the intention of turning the n all into the first of his mutant rat people army and a a he explained every time on me of his rat people bites a human it will act as a virus causing that human to become a mutant rat and thereby causing the infection to spread and spread and cause every human on earth to become mutant that’s all under his control, through early experimentation one test subject which was his first attempt to do so, mutated using an untested mutagen serum. Another example of an infecting mutagen is from the comic dinosaur farm where Krang developed a mutagenic virus as a new way to create mutants. Its properties seem to be vastly different from other sources of mutation, as instead of the usual potential mutation effects such as anthropomorphization, enhanced abilities, and physical disfiguring, the virus instead mutated a bunch of farm turkeys into miniature dinosaurs. One such turkey became a tyrannosaurus rex, which a captive Donatello befriended and named Tyro. These versions of the Yōkai have a more specifically mutant origin than the yōkai of Japanese myth, having lived in a society that has evolved in a vast underground chamber now called the Hidden City. Technically, all Yōkai are mutants as they originated from mutation-inducing contact with Empyrean, but regardless, Despite their shared origin with mutants in this continuity, Yōkai do not identify themselves as and with the term “mutant” and the concept of mutation and “mutant” label is foreign to most. While they are decidedly distinct from mutants, most Yōkai (and mutants) can’t distinguish a mutant from a Yōkai from appearance alone and simply assume that they are fellow Yōkai. They commonly resemble anthropomorphic animals that vary in appearance from recognizable real-life species to unidentifiable fictional species with some Yōkai being specific legendary creatures, such as jorōgumo, ogres, and mermaids. Yōkai can have bodies made of a sole material, such as bone, and can even look indistinguishable from humans, though this phenotype appears to be rare. Yōkai can be sapient or non-sapient. Sapient Yōkai commonly possess an erect posture (though not always), while non-sapient Yōkai cannot speak, and are seemingly used by sapient Yōkai as humans use non-human animals (as food, transport, etc.). Compared to humans, Yōkai possess a longer lifespan and age at a decelerated rate, able to live up for a millennia with the possibility of a 200 or 300-year-old Yōkai being the equivalent to a human in their twenties or thirties. Plus mutagen does have some effects when it comes to the magic and supernatural, such as working in tandem with it and at times even enhancing magic powers (an example includes the Paramecia coloniex in the mirage continuity which are Mutant worms and are a species of “colony worms” created by the Foot Clan and were created Using a mix of magic and science, the Foot Mystics created the Paramecia Coloniex and they trained them to feed on the remains of a person and form together to become a replica of said person (in this case a clone made of magical worms consuming the original by feeding on shredders corpse and become him), all to resurrect the Shredder. Their first three attempts resorted to malformed mutants (the shredder elite), before they finally succeeded in making a perfect clone which was the shredder clone in which it revealed that it was a worm clone of the original Shredder, but still harbored the hatred of the original. These mutant and somewhat mystic worms ate the remains of the dead, and then grew into the form of what they ate (they are made of them as when one of the shredder mutants loses an arm, it seems to be exuding earthworms). The malformed Shredder Elite were the first three experiments with the worms, and the Shredder clone their fourth. Shredder and Leonardo fought it out and in the end, Leo would end up decapitating him, finally killing him. Leonardo would then take Shredder’s body and burn it at the Hudson River in a Viking funeral (burning on a raft on a river). Though The perfect clone was killed by Leonardo, the worms themselves survived and gained sentience thanks to A Foot Mystic named Mashima would find the remains and use the mysterious worms and he took a worm from the corpse before it was burned and he swallowed it allowing him to mystically meld with the entire colony and used them to create Shredder’s clone body again and the rest of the worms in the severed head that fell in the river then went out to find a new body and when the head was was eaten by a shark swimming in the harbor they eat the remains of the shark which caused the colony to take control of and assimilate it and This mutant shark monster retained Saki’s memories and considered and believed himself the real Oroku Saki. This creature had wasted no time and started his revenge against the Turtles and Splinter and it was also being influenced by Mashima but when Facing the Turtles, who defeated it, after a long struggle, in which, by the mysterious abilities of this new creature, the personalities of the Turtles were turned upside down. By severing it’s connection to the mystic, he realized he was just a clone and escaped, also eating the Foot Mystic as well. Sometime later, the monster returned however, and had the Foot kidnap Shadow jones to lure the Turtles into a trap. With the Turtles away this Shark/Worm/Shredder monster would face Splinter and Casey Jones. They managed to defeat this incarnation of Shredder with the help of the Foot Mystic Mashima, who had meanwhile merged with the Shredder Shark clone, and did so because with Mashima’s consciousness inside, however, finds Saki’s actions deplorable and dishonorable, as he means to harm an innocent child. Mashima and Splinter join minds so that the former can hold back the Shredder’s control. With Saki under psychic assault, and the rescued shadow Jones thrashes the Shredder clone, finally killing the creature and the three of them together put an end to the Saki clone once and for all. As Mashima is dying as well, he asks Splinter for forgiveness, and Splinter accepts. Plus also in the mirage continuity, Raphael was attacked and bitten by a gang that turned out to be a group of vampires; although Raphael did not turn into a vampire the vampirism mixes with the mutagen in his system and causes a double mutation to occur, causing him to transform into an initially uncontrollable dinosaur-like beast. After Raphael manages to control his monstrous side, he succeeds, together with Casey, in capturing those vampires who were responsible for his monstrous transformation and eventually the effects are reversed and he turns back to normal. Technically, all Yōkai are mutants as they originated from mutation and mutagen but regardless, Despite their shared origin with mutants in this continuity, Yōkai do not identify themselves as and with the term “mutant” and the concept of mutation and “mutant” label is foreign to most. While they are decidedly distinct from mutants, most Yōkai (and mutants) can’t distinguish a mutant from a Yōkai from appearance alone and simply assume that they are fellow Yōkai. Plus they have an underground society call Ed Tue hidden city and a longer history than Draxum’s mutagen mutants and therefore consist of a people and culture that sets them apart from other mutants who mostly only recently mutated because of the intervention of Baron Draxum. Mystic powers are not exclusive to the Yōkai as humans and mutants are capable of harnessing them and the mystic power hamato ninpo is a traditional clan technique, derived from a very powerful source of unknown origins that makes the art exclusive to the Hamato Clan called the Hamato essence, a type of life force that is passed down through generations of the clan. Hamato Ninpō gives its users access to the collective power of past Hamato Clan members, bestowing its users a large amount of mystic energy that grants them various superhuman abilities and The technique is unlocked by wholly connecting and trusting in one’s family. Contact with mystic powers helps users to initially access it and the more exposure users have to mystic powers in general, the stronger their Hamato Ninpō passively grows and all mystic power among the Yōkai is ultimately derived from Empyrean, a mutagenic substance that is the main ingredient to mutagen and is responsible for the mutagen’s ability to give mystic traits to its users and it comes from the kraang).

Retro-Mutagen, Retromutagen (Batman vs. TMNT)
But throughout many continuities there has existed a thing called Retro mutagen aka Anti-mutagen or anti-ooze which is the antidote to mutagen and mutations For When the Retro Mutagen comes in contact with a mutant organism, it can reverse the effects of the Mutagen and will undo the mutation. With the effects of the Mutagen being reversed, the mutant will be transformed back into its previous form. It can retro-mutate any mutant if it is consumed, injected, or skin contact. It has the power to undo almost every mutation, turning a mutant back to what they were originally, such as it turning a human Mutant human again. It can also turn an animal Mutant back to a regular animal, reverting the mutant cells back to show they originally were, With sometimes a possible side effect of the retromutagen is the subject has no memory of being a mutant. Retro-mutagen has been weaponized to use against mutant a in various ways such as being uses as a spray or as a throwing weapon in to have it slatter on a mutant or being it darts for guns so it can be shot at a mutant. Its origins vary and its effects and its limits do vary depending on the continuities. Its creation (examples of its origins include in the 1987 series where it was mentioned as a neutralizer for the mutagen. Later in the series it appears to be Compound X7, a rare experimental anti-mutagen. In the 1990 film series in the movie TMNT the secret of the Ooze, it was mentioned that the neutralizer is made of dimethyl chloride and must be heated to 338 Kelvin (65° Celsius or 149° Fahrenheit), which must be consumed in order to be effective. The Turtles were able to trick Tokka and Rahzar into taking the anti-mutagen by freezing it into ice cubes and hiding the cubes in doughnuts. Unfortunately, a side affect of the antidote was it made them queasy, causing them to burp which is retarding the anti-mutagenic reaction. Carbon dioxide is needed to speed up the processes, and the Turtles forced them to drink from the fire extinguishers, reverting them back to normal. In the 2012 series Donnie managed to save invent retro-mutagen through a long period of trial and error and it was learned that April O’Neil was a mutant human utrom hybrid as she was born this way from inheriting traits from her mother whose family line had been genetically altered by Kraang experiments. This is important because it was discovered that a april herself is immune to being mutated by mutagen, possibly thanks to her having Kraang DNA and her DNA was uniquely attuned with earths dimension. April’s special properties of being immune to mutagen is the the key to creating retro-mutagen and is the reason why her DNA worked to make retro mutagen as it is instrumental to how Donnie’s retro-mutagen reverses the effects of mutation and when made the retro mutagen takes the form of a glowing orange ooze and it is made from mutagen itself, but a downside is that for Donnie’s recipe to create retro mutagen it takes 10 canisters worth of regular mutagen as the source, Aprils DNA and several months of brewing and undergoing complex chemical alterations to just to make one small dose of retro mutagen but and upside is that one drop is enough to cure a mutant. Plus it is believed that Baxter Stockman invented his own version of retroamutagen as when he was cured by the turtles of his fly mutation he was furious as he liked being a mutant fly and asked them why they never wondered why he never de-mutated himself, plus retro-mutagen did have a part in serpent Karai’s mutation). But it has been shown that retro-mutagen does have its limits as a cure for mutations and some times it depends on either continuity or how the anti-ooze is made (examples of this are in the 1987 series when Donatello created something similar to retro mutagen in “Splinter No More” to return Splinter to his human form. Unlike the Retro-Mutagen, the effects were temporary and he mutated back into a rat again. But it worked and cured recent mutated subjects like the Arkham asylum inmates and league of assassins and foot clan ninjas, and even cured Batman and it even cured those affected by mutagen mixed with joker-venom. Another example from the 2012 series is karai for it is revealed that Stockman accidentally modified the mutagen that mutated Karai, making it possible for her to shift back into her human form. It was revealed later that Retro-Mutagen has no effect on unique mutants as this unique mutation can not be reversed by using regular Retro-Mutagen, as when karai was sprayed by it nothing happened and as Donnie predicted and said karai is a special mutant. Plus retro-mutagen can’t cure stabilized mutants mutated with super mutagen such as Super Shredder, for to try to revert him back to normal Donnie created 2 retro-mutagen lightbulbs which were lightbulbs filled with retro-mutagen to be used as a throwing weapon to get it splattered on mutants to cure them one was used to cure stockman-fly and one was the own at super shredder, but unfortunately it had no effect as super mutagen was to chemical altered for the retro mutagen to work on him. However, this may only be the case for normal Retro-Mutagen as a retro-mutagen that has been augmented could be used to cure special and unique mutations. Plus in the point grey continuity when it came to super fly meeting with many animal life forms and tiring to the giant mutant monster super duper fly and when a glowing blue retro mutagen was shot are his leg, the anti-ooze dart just causes only one horse of the many comprising his leg to be cured and separate from him while the rest of his body still remained intact but the turtles managed to stop him as an abomination when they used some of the Anti-Ooze and dropped it into his blowhole which had a heavy concentration of ooze and it were through his entire bloodstream and it not only regressed him from his mega mutant form back into a normal housefly but demutated and separated every animal that he was composed of back to their normal forms). But it has been shown that variation of it can be made for it to be stronger and work differently and even shown to have effects when mixed with regular-mutagen (example a of this include serpent karai from the 2012 series for when she was part of a trap to lure the turtles into being mutated by shredder the plan was for the turtles to fall into the tank of mutagen Karai was hanging over which was mixed with a purple chemical called the Feral serpent serum which was made from snake DNA and this cause the mutagen to mirage the subject into a feral mutant snake and the plan was to mutants the 4 turtles into mindless mutant snakes to attack and kill splinter so he can see his own sons become a rats natural predator and attack and kill him but what nobody knew was that Stockman-fly accidentally spilled how version or retro-mutagen in it but he pain no attention to or cared a soul what that might do but Karai was accidentally stopped into the tank and became a feral white and purple snake with barely any humanity but it was discovered that when Mutagen is mixed with retromutagen, whoever it mutates will be able to shapeshift back into their human form but will still have a few traits of their mutant form and this is what happened to karai for she can shapeshift between her human and mutant forms or turn part of her body back and forth of become a form of some where in between her 2 forms and it also caused her to be immune to retromutagen and when karai was captured stockman-fly was able to remove the feral serpent serum out of her restoring her human mind and giving her full control over her unique abilities. Plus a great example is Super Retro-mutagen from the 2012 series for it’s origins were when Michelangelo accidentally created a super retro-mutagen formula that can transform huge amounts of mutagen into retro-mutagen. It began when mikey was goofing around in donnies lab and messing with some of Donnie’s chemicals and accidentally creates a glowing blue substance that he described as a plutonium and when one drop of it gets in a vial of retro-mutagen it caused it glow and boil rapidly till it stopped and it was not only glowing but also sparkling and Donnie discovered it caused the retro-mutagen to be enhanced and its bonding rait to be phenomenal for he tested it and discovered that one drop of the super retro-mutagen can make an entire vile of regular mutagen instantly turn into regular retromutagen and This makes it easier and could save months of work and it could be possible that super-retro mutagen can be used to cure special and unique mutations that regular retro-mutagen can’t cure but unfortunately Miley couldn’t remember how he made his plutonium for When Donatello asks Michelangelo what did he use to create the super retro-mutagen, Mikey made up a few components’ names, the first one called Uranate is an actual substance and The other components he said he used were Anolite, moronic acid, and some garlic cappuccino pizza, and what was show n when he made it was he added in for the components of the Super Retro-mutagen are a few tubes of sodium bicarbonates, a skeleton of a fish, an eaten apple and half of slice of garlic cheese pizza. Technology has even been made in dealing with mutagen such as Ooze-based technology (some examples include Tracking technology such as in the 2012 series there is the Mutagen tracker aka the Ooze scanner developed by Donnie for the purpose of locating Mutagen as Donatello developed devices that would help him and his brothers to look for mutagen canisters and another version if it is also in the 1987 series which was invented by krang. Another example includes the Ooze specks also form the 2012 series which is a pair of goggles created by donnie which are designed to to detect traces of mutagen and mutant DNA throughout visual scanning).
